Our Invited and final group of presenters

We are thrilled to announce our final group of presenters for the 2024 DDPI Worldwide Conference, including our Invited Presenters and their Feature Presentations.

In alphabetical order they include: Anthea Benjamin, Leisa Bennett, Lizzie Bennett, Matthew Burns, Jess Christopher, Eugene Ellis and Nynette (Nyn) Martin and Helen Woodage.

Anthea Benjamin and Eugene Ellis will open our conference with their Feature Presentation Staying open within intersectional perspectives. Within this presentation Anthea and Eugene will explore how PACE relates to intersectionality and intersectional experiences that are often challenging and hard to stay with.

Anthea Benjamin is a Integrative Arts Psychotherapist, DDP Practitioner and DDP Consultant in Training. She has a special interest in transracial and inter-country adoption racial trauma, particularly working with racial trauma in the body and has written numerous papers and articles on these subjects.

Eugene Ellis is a psychotherapist, writer and public speaker, and Director and Founder of the Black, African and Asian Therapy Network (BAATN). His new book ‘Transforming Race Conversations: A Healing Guide For Us All’ (2024) “delves into the story of race… the impact of race trauma on the body, and how intergenerational race trauma continues to impact us today”.

Our Feature Presentation on day 2 will be ‘From US vs Them to WE: Overcoming the Neurobiology of “The Other” and Implications for DDP’ with Dan Hughes, Ph.D. and Jon Baylin, Ph.D. Jon will introduce the neurobiology of our relational systems and about the shift from a hierarchical, power-based state of mind towards an affiliative state of mind. Dan will focus on how DDP functions to help shift relationships towards affiliation, mutual trust and caring.

Dan Hughes, Ph.D, is the Founder and developer of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), DDP Trainer, Consultant and Practitioner, Clinical Psychologist and celebrated author.

Jon Baylin, Ph.D is a clinical psychologist of over 40 years and celebrated author who for the last 25 years has studied neurobiology and the brain.

Jon and Dan co-authored Brain-Based Parenting and The Neurobiology of Attachment-Focused Therapy together and are currently working on a second edition of Brain-Based Parenting.
